I take several photos of the eroded paint as more people stare at me as they pass, wondering, "What the heck is this girl doing so low to the ground? What's so interesting about that gate?"
Even though I feel funny in the positions I assume to take photos, I know enduring the feeling is worth the end result.
Close-ups are one of my favorite types of photographs to take. I like to capture the intricate details of an object through the lens of the camera--it's rough or smooth texture, the dirt and rust, the bright and dark colors.
I like seeing the beauty in what some may consider the ugly aspects of the world around me, particularly in my home of New York City.
I used my cell phone to take the photos below on my way home from Equis' school. Enjoy!
