"Well, no, duh!" I yelled. "You think I just want to freeze my son's hands off because I'm an uncaring mother! Or would you find it hard to believe I put them on him 22 times already!"
Except that I only yelled back at him in my head. He was the third person to give me this annoying advice and one of many to glare at me as I pushed Equis home from school last Tuesday.
Instead, I smiled in spite of my exasperation and waved my hand in the air, "Yeah, I know, it's just, he, you know," and kept walking.
I hate for him to miss school because he loves it so much and also because it just makes it harder to get my errands done when my beautiful demanding baby is around.
We made the best of our time inside, though: Equis watched Super Why, stacked blocks and spilled his bowl of Cocoa Puffs all over the floor; and, with Sebastian's help, I managed to pay bills online, work on my father's new Jujitsu website and share a blog post on love.
When I went out by myself to deposit money in the bank, I wished I could fight back against the hard snow stinging my cheeks and the strong winds that forced me to add my pretty orange umbrella to the others already in the trash.
But, alas, there was nothing I could do except deal with it until I reached the warmth of my home.
How are you spending your wintry weekend?
